Commander Jeffrey S. Wilcox

Commanding Officer, Naval Recruiting District New England

CDR Wilcox, USNCDR Wilcox was raised in Olathe, Kansas and is a 1992 graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering. After graduation he earned his commission at Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida and subsequently earned his Wings of Gold in Kingsville, Texas in May 1995.

CDR Wilcox completed initial training in the FA-18 Hornet with Strike Fighter Squadron ONE ZERO SIX at NAS Cecil Field, Florida and was then ordered to the “Marauders” of Strike-Fighter Squadron EIGHT TWO in July 1996. He deployed with the “Marauders” embarked in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) in support of Operation Southern Watch and participated in work-ups in preparation for the squadron’s subsequent deployment onboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CVN 67)

Culminating a successful fleet tour in July 1999, CDR Wilcox was invited to join the TOPGUN staff at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC) in Fallon, Nevada where he served as the Navy’s FA-18 APG-65/73 RADAR Subject Matter Expert. In addition to training future strike-fighter tactics instructors, he was also involved in the initial development of the APG-79 AESA RADAR for the FA-18E/F and was an integral member of NSAWC’s Joint Strike-Fighter tactics development team.

Returning to the fleet in December 2002, CDR Wilcox joined the staff of Carrier Strike Group TWO as the Assistant Air Operations Officer embarked in USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75). During this tour he deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean Sea where he assisted in the coordination of air and surface operations of two battle groups; earned qualification as a Battle Group Tactical Action Officer; and flew combat missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).

In October 2004 CDR Wilcox reported to the “Ragin’ Bulls” of Strike-Fighter Squadron THREE SEVEN and immediately deployed to the Persian Gulf onboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) in support of OIF. During his service with “Team Bull” he earned qualification as an Air Wing Strike Lead and served as the Safety Officer, Administrative Officer, Operations Officer and Maintenance Officer.

Receiving orders in January 2007 to a joint tour with NATO at Supreme Allied Command Transformation, CDR Wilcox served as the Policy Section Head for the NATO Security Investment Program. In this capacity he helped shape NATO’s resource and acquisition policies and provided the only instructional course on resource management within the Alliance. During this tour he also completed Joint Professional Military Education via the USAF Air Command and Staff College in his spare time.

In May 2009, CDR Wilcox reported to Navy Recruiting District New England as the Executive Officer. He assumed Command in October of 2010 and now serves as the Commanding Officer.

CDR Wilcox has accumulated over 2200 total flight hours (more than 2000 in the FA-18) and has 418 arrested landings. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Strike-Flight Air Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.

Commander Diego E. Codosea

Executive Officer, Naval Recruiting District New England

CMDR Codosea, USNCDR Diego E. Codosea grew up in Brentwood NY and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1984. He served onboard the USS Coronado (AGF-11), PSD Subase Pearl Harbor, and Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4 in Port Hueneme CA.

He was selected for the enlisted commissioning program in 1992 and graduated from the State University of New York at Brockport with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1995. He attended Regent University in Virginia and graduated in 2003 with a Master’s of Business Administration. In 2010 he graduated from the Naval War College with a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.

In 1995, he attended Basic Surface Warfare School and Basic / Advanced Steam Engineering School in Newport RI. After graduation, he reported to the USS SAIPAN (LHA-2) in 1996 homeported in Norfolk VA. He served as the Electronic Warfare Officer and earned his OOD, SWO, and SWC qualifications. He participated in operations in the 2nd Fleet OPAREA and 6th Fleet Mediterranean Deployment.

CDR Codosea was next assigned to USS HALYBURTON (FFG-40) in 1998. He served as Auxiliary Division Officer, Visit Board Search and Seizure Boarding Officer, and earned his EOOW letter. He participated in operations in BALTOPS-98, Adriatic Sea, and Middle East Force-99 Deployment. His follow on tour in 1999 took him to Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic in Little Creek, VA. He served as the VBSS Branch Officer and lead instructor. Following EWTGLANT he reported to Department Head School in Newport RI in 2002.

CDR Codosea next reported to USS MITSCHER (DDG-57) in August 2003 as Chief Engineer and earned his Tactical Action Officer qualifications. His next assignment was with COMDESRON22 as Materials & Logistics Officer. He deployed onboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT with the TR STRIKE GROUP 05 in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In 2005, he reported to USCG COMMANDER ATLANTIC AREA/COMMANDER DEFENSE FORCE EAST in Portsmouth VA as US/CAN/MEX exercise coordinator and operations training planner. His next assignment was US FLEET FORCES COMMAND in 2008 working in the N7 shop for Fleet Training and Special Projects.

CDR Codosea’s military decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 5 gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, Battle E Award, and Navy Good Conduct Medal with bronze star.

Hakim A. Diaz CMDCM

Command Master Chief

Hakim Diaz, USNMaster Chief Diaz is a native of New York City. He enlisted 25 August 1982 and completed recruit training in Great Lakes, IL. Following completion of Electronics Technician training in Great Lakes, IL, he attended Navy Nuclear Power School in Orlando, FL and then qualified reactor operator at D1G Prototype in Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) Ballston Spa, NY.

Master Chief Diaz has served in a variety of shore and sea based assignments. His sea duty assignments include USS LONG BEACH (CGN 9), USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69), where he served first from July 1991 to June 1995 and again as Reactor Controls Leading Chief Petty Officer and Reactor Department LCPO or “Bull Nuke” from December 1998 to June 2002, where he was then selected for the Command Master Chief Program.

He has also served as an instructor at the A1W Prototype at NPTU Idaho Falls ID, where he qualified Engineering Watch Supervisor and served as a staff training group Reactor Operator, and on the Staff of Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, where he served as the first electronic assistant for the Surface Nuclear Power Maintenance Training Group.

His first Command Master Chief assignment upon graduation from the Senior Enlisted Academy was USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50), where he served from February 2003 through April 2005, deploying to the Arabian Gulf in support of the Global War on Terrorism. He then served as Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek Command Master Chief, until September 2006, when he was selected as Commander, Naval Surface Force U.S. Atlantic Fleet Force Master Chief. Since July 2008, Master Chief Diaz has served as the Command Master Chief of Naval Recruiting District New England

Master Chief Diaz’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars and the Navy Good Conduct Medal with a silver star.

He received a Bachelors of Science degree from the State University of New York, Regents College.onduct Medal with bronze star.
